At least two generations of Americans now living have been directly
affected by World War II: the veterans of the war and the home front and their baby boom children.
Now is the time to share and compare experiences, insights,
and attitudes about that war, and war in general.

Media Presentation on DVD with 12-page Guide in Binder. The
"Stars on the
Home Front" during World War II did war work, saved fuel and rubber, read
newspapers and listened to the radio while they waited for (and worried
about) their loved ones overseas.(15 minutes) The DVD has subtitles..
Sing-Along Songs and Radio on CD with Guide in Binder.
Four sing-along songs: Don't Sit Under
the Apple Tree with Anyone Else But Me, You're in the Army Now, For Me
and My Gal, and It's Been A Long, Long Time. Plus a 1944 "Your Hit
Parade" radio show that surveyed the top songs based on phonograph and
sheet music sales.
25 Booklets. The V-Book in large-print includes ration
stamps and facts, a list of contemporary bestsellers, cartoons, excerpts
from a wartime edition of the Sears, Roebuck catalog, and the four sing-along
songs.
Skit. Listen in on a wartime conversation between
two friends in "Don'tcha Know There's A War On?" Three scripts in large
print.
Things to Touch. Scented cards of rationed
items: sugary birthday cakes, chocolate, and gasoline; a toy soldier, just
one of the many war toys popular then; an insignia used by military and civilians
alike to distinguish those of high rank; a bandage like the ones rolled
by the hands of volunteers; knitting like that done for the Red Cross;
and a ball of foil, one of the many items saved for the war effort.
Manual. Program suggestions and resources, more discussion
